How
do I install my Sundance Pool?
You
can consider doing it all yourself, doing some of it yourself and
hiring in help for the trickier parts, or hiring a contractor to look
after everything. The following information sets out the factors you
should take into account when making this decision:
DIY
Installing
a Sundance pool requires the skills of a competent DIY practitioner who
is willing and able to take on a large project. You will need to plan
the process, dig a large hole to reasonably accurate dimensions,
carefully drop the fibreglass pool into it, backfill with sand and
cement and build the surrounding paved area. In addition, simple
plumbing skills are required to install the heating and drainage
components.
Assisted
DIY
Some
of our clients do much of the work themselves but hire in help for the
heavy lifting. Your local building contractor will probably be able to
assist. A mechanical excavator, for instance, makes light work of the
digging and can also be used to help lift the pool into the hole.
Perhaps you’re not confident about the pipework: if so, your normal
domestic plumbing or heating contractor should be able to take on that
part of the job.
Hiring
a general contractor
If the DIY approach doesn’t appeal you can consider hiring a general
building contractor to undertake the project. As with any building job
you need to select a reliable and competent firm but it shouldn’t be
necessary to insist on previous experience in the field as the skills
required are not specialised.
Hiring
a specialist contractor
Specialist swimming pool contractors are available in most areas. A
good one will be able to advise you on all aspects of the job,
relieving you of any worries about the planning and delivery of the
project. Inevitably, service at this level will be significantly more
expensive than the alternatives, but it may be the right decision for
you.
Swimming
Pool Equipment & Covers
There
is a huge range of pool equipment in the swimming pool market. We are
happy to discuss your individual requirements on a one to one basis,
but as a starting point there are a few essentials that you might like
to consider.
Water
Purification System
Having installed your pool you will need some form of water
purification system and we personally recommend our salt water
chlorinator. The C-Salt pool sanitizer does away with chemicals, so
there is no need to add chlorine.
It keeps your pool clean the natural way so you can enjoy:
•
Softer, sparkling water - looks and feels great all the time.
•
No red eyes, no dry skin, no dry hair.
•
No chlorine allergies.
•
Automatic sanitising - no more daily dosing of chemicals.
•
Clean healthy water – natural salt exhibits a therapeutic and healing
effect on the body.
•
Expensive and hazardous chlorine compounds need no longer be handled,
stored or transported.
•
Water salinity of 0.7% - close to the human body’s own salinity level
of 0.9% and well below sea salt salinity of 3.5%.

Pool
Heating
You may also want to think about heating your pool. There are a number
of options available from a stand alone pool heating system, to using a
heat exchanger taking heat from your house’s heating system, or maybe
using solar panels. See our page on pool heating.
Pool
Covers
It’s a good idea to cover your pool, and there are a range of covers
available, from a bubble cover ideal for keeping the water warm in the
summer to a full safety cover which can withstand being walked across.
Winter covers are also advisable as they keep debris out in the winter.
Countercurrent
Unit
For endless on the spot swimming especially in the more compact pool a
countercurrent unit is ideal. We suggest the Marlin countercurrent and
full details are available in our attached pdf document. If you would
like further information on the counter-currents available please email
us at enquiries@sundancepools.co.uk.
Underwater
Lighting
There are various options of pool lighting available and the underwater
light is an important safety feature to consider when swimming at
night. The underwater light also adds a romantic atmosphere to those
late night swims.
Coping
Stones
We offer a range of coping stones, generally supplied in white or buff
colour. Specially made to enhance your pool surround they are non-slip
and bull-nose designed to direct the water away from or back into the
pool.
Dehumidifiers
We can offer a choice of dehumidifiers from standard domestic models to
those that incorpaorate a heat recovery system providing both ambient
air and pool heating in one system.
